The value of equities traded on Nasdaq Dubai in all of 2017 reached USD 1,330,719,987, an increase of 7% from USD 1,243,512,253 in 2016. Volume reached 273,279,795 shares in all of 2017, 98% higher than 138,163,286 shares in 2016.
The value of equities traded in December 2017 reached USD 69,706,410, a decrease of 39.5% from USD 115,162,049 in December 2016 and 28.2% lower than USD 97,036,215 in November 2017.
Volume in December 2017 reached 15,184,431 shares, up 32.7% from 11,446,420 in December 2016 and 30.2% higher than 11,661,653 shares in November 2017.
The FTSE Nasdaq Dubai UAE 20 index ended December 2017 at 3,288.69, down 0.1% from 3290.40 at the end of November 2017, and down 0.2% from 3,293.85 at the end of December 2016.
The index tracks 20 liquid stocks listed on Dubai Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai. It has been designed as a hedging and investment mechanism for GCC and international investors.
On Nasdaq Dubai’s equity futures market, traded value reached AED 463,920,492 in all of 2017, the first full year in which the market has been open. Traded value December 2017 reached AED 14,509,424, a decline of 36% from AED 22,723,602 in November 2017. A total of 30,572,468 contracts traded in December, down 69% from 99,362 contracts in November. The most active broker by value on the equity futures market in December was Menacorp followed by Al Safwa Mubasher and then Integrated Securities.
The futures market currently consists of single stock futures on 16 UAE-listed companies: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, ADNOC Distribution, Aldar Properties, Arabtec Holding, DP World, DAMAC Properties, Dubai Financial Market, Dubai Investments, Dubai Islamic Bank, DXB Entertainments, Emaar Development, Emaar Malls, Emaar Properties, Etisalat, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, and Union Properties.
