Monthly Trading Report: October 2016
The value of equities traded on Nasdaq Dubai in October 2016 reached USD 114,763,343, a decline of 16% from USD 137,098,280in October 2015 and 33% higher than USD 86,604,564 in September 2016.
Volume in October 2016 reached 14,190,396 shares, up 14% from 12,454,435 shares in October 2015 and up 87% from 7,576,980 shares in September 2016.
The FTSE Nasdaq Dubai UAE 20 index ended October 2016 at 3,133, down 4% from 3,268 at the end of September 2016 and up 2% from 3,063 at the end of December 2015.
The index tracks 20 liquid stocks listed on Dubai Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai. It has been designed as a hedging and investment mechanism for GCC and international investors.
Activity onNasdaq Dubai’sequity futures market increased in October 2016 to 103,393 contracts traded, up 567% from 15,508 in September 2016. The most active brokers by value on the equity futures market were Menacorp and Al Ramz.
The futures market opened on September 1, 2016, and currently consists of single stock futures on nine UAE-listed companies: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Aldar Properties, Arabtec Holding, DP World, Dubai Islamic Bank, DXB Entertainments, Emaar Properties, Etisalat and Union Properties.
