The value of equities traded in July 2020 reached USD 2,344,251, down from USD 235,273,572 in July 2019 and down from USD 266,400,516 in June 2020. Volume in July 2020 reached 20,874,208 shares, up from 20,165,840 shares in July 2019 and up from 20,812,107 shares in June 2020.
The FTSE Nasdaq Dubai UAE 20 index ended July 2020 at 2,535.95, up 0.6% from 2,520.78 at the end of June 2020.
The index tracks 20 liquid stocks listed on Dubai Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai. It has been designed as a hedging and investment mechanism for GCC and international investors.
On Nasdaq Dubai’s equity futures market, traded value in July 2020 reached AED 1.22 million, down 18% from AED 1.48 million in June 2020. A total of 11,216 contracts traded in July 2020, down 31% from 16,318 contracts in June 2020. The most active broker (excluding market-making) by value on the equity futures market in July 2020 was EFG-Hermes UAE followed by BH Mubasher Financial Services.
The futures market currently consists of single stock futures on 16 UAE-listed companies and 12 Saudi Arabia-listed companies, as well as index futures on DFM’s DFMGI index, ADX’s ADI index, MSCI’s UAE equity index and the FTSE Saudi Arabia Index.
