The value of equities traded in June 2020 reached USD 266,400,516, up 65% from USD 161,893,614 in June 2019 and up 160% from USD 102,337,656 in May 2020. Volume in June 2020 reached 20,812,107 shares, up 66% from 12,540,869 shares in June 2019 and up 76% from 11,796,823 shares in May 2020.
The FTSE Nasdaq Dubai UAE 20 index ended June 2020 at 2,520.78, up 4% from 2,419.68 at the end of May 2020.
The index tracks 20 liquid stocks listed on Dubai Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai. It has been designed as a hedging and investment mechanism for GCC and international investors.
On Nasdaq Dubai’s equity futures market, traded value in June 2020 reached AED 1.48 million, down 5% from AED 1.55 million in May 2020. A total of 16,318 contracts traded in June 2020, up 44% from 11,337 contracts in May 2020. The most active broker (excluding market-making) by value on the equity futures market in June 2020 was BH Mubasher followed by Menacorp Financial Services.
The futures market currently consists of single stock futures on 16 UAE-listed companies and 12 Saudi Arabia-listed companies, as well as index futures on DFM’s DFMGI index, ADX’s ADI index, MSCI’s UAE equity index and the FTSE Saudi Arabia Index.
