The value of equities traded in April 2020 reached USD 372,292,535, up 70% from USD 218,662,112 in April 2019 and up 20% from USD 310,337,764 in March 2020. Volume in April 2020 reached 31,670,796 shares, up 61% from 19,691,117 shares in April 2019 and up 28% from 24,678,895 shares in March 2020.
The FTSE Nasdaq Dubai UAE 20 index ended April 2020 at 2,464.22, up 15% from 2,135.50 at the end of March 2020.
The index tracks 20 liquid stocks listed on Dubai Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Nasdaq Dubai. It has been designed as a hedging and investment mechanism for GCC and international investors.
On Nasdaq Dubai’s equity futures market, traded value in April 2020 reached AED 4.92 million, up 6% from AED 4.65 million in March 2020. A total of 28,511 contracts traded in April 2020, up 15% from 24,857 contracts in March 2020. The most active broker (excluding market-making) by value on the equity futures market in April 2020 was BH Mubasher followed by Mena Corp Financial Services.
The futures market currently consists of single stock futures on 17 UAE-listed companies and 12 Saudi Arabia-listed companies, as well as index futures on DFM’s DFMGI index, ADX’s ADI index, MSCI’s UAE equity index and the FTSE Saudi Arabia Index.
